This one is really gonna hurt… I promised Rocket Man he'd be with me forever, but it's just not fair to him to keep him any longer. He has so much to offer- he longs for attention every day, but only gets out & fooled with a few times a year. He should have the chance to be someone's everything. Those of you who know me know he is my love...don't be too hard on me, though! I'm doing what I believe is best for all of us. This ad is very long and detailed – sorry, it's imperative to me that I find a wonderful person/family for Rocket, that is an excellent fit, or he can stay here until I do. Rocket is a 7 year old (2017) GVHS registered silver dapple Gypsy Cob gelding, approx 15 hands. He is out of SD Kayla, by Rockabye Sweet Baby James (both pictured at the end of the long you-tube video) Rocket is as sound, hardy and healthy as any horse I've ever known, & has never once needed a vet other than for vaccinations, Coggins & teeth floats - he has never once been injured nor sick. He is a super easy keeper, stays fat as a tick, even in a sparse pasture, or on only hay for a couple months in the winter. Of course, he is perfect for the vet & ferrier, loads like a dream, & can be ridden western, English or bareback. Rocket has had several months professional training under saddle, but he has not yet been driven. He has been shown in halter as well as walk trot classes. He has WAY more woah than go – it's a bit of a chore to get him into a canter! He needs a rider with a firmer hand than myself, I am a big pushover and I never want to "hurt him"! He is much more responsive with spurs, but I just don't personally use them (no judgement!). He has one major fault, and that is that he is a little spooky. He just needs consistency, right now he's only ridden a few times a year, usually several months apart. He doesn't act crazy, just side steps a little to avoid things he's afraid of. He's not afraid of much if he can follow another horse, but when he's alone, he's pretty sure something is going to eat him! I wouldn't actually call him buddy-sour, it's just a matter of anxiety when he is alone, and it doesn't help when that makes me scared, and we feed off of each other. It's very easy to get him to ride out alone. He could conquer the world if he had a more confident rider! I've even ridden him and a very loud, very chaotic Christmas parade, in the dark, and he did absolutely fabulous! He didn't spook one time with all that commotion, but when we were riding back to the trailer in the dark by ourselves, he was very frightened. Rocket is used to vehicles, loud tractors, four wheelers, every animal you can name, including camels, zebras, and pigs. He would never in a million years be hard to catch – he craves attention and is often the only horse I see, because he waits for me at the fence in case I have a minute to stop by. If I don't see him or the others, I call his name a few times and no matter how many fields away he is he comes galloping. No halter hiding necessary 🙂 he puts his head right in, he can't wait to come spend time with his humans. He is a little slow at his groundwork, well he's a little slow at everything ha ha! But rocket has a heart of gold and he loves children! he is always my horse of choice for pony rides, he is patient and gentle with kids or adults of any age or capacity. Last weekend, I was blessed to be able to take Rocket on my first horse camping trip ever! He was such a good boy, never made a peep about being in a strange place or situation, and was very willing and quiet through the trails and over the whole obstacle course. Near the end of my video, you can see an example of him afraid to do something if he is first, the bridge, but once he could follow Valerie, he just plodded right along. I've tried to cover everything in this post, but will happily answer any other questions. His carrots are in the middle of what you would expect, but please understand I am holding out for what I think is good for him. If you message me and I don't respond, I probably didn't see it. There are baby pictures of him at the end of the video, as well as pictures of his parents. I tried to do the videos in chronological order of his training as best I could.
